Ingredients

For the Sandwich:

  • 8 bread slices white, brown, or multigrain
  • 2 –3 tbsp butter for spreading & grilling
  • 2 –4 cheese slices optional

Vegetables:

  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 1 tomato thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber thinly sliced
  • 1 boiled potato sliced
  • ½ capsicum thinly sliced
  • 1 small carrot grated
  • ½ cup cabbage or lettuce optional
  • Spreads & Seasoning:
  • 2 –3 tbsp mayonnaise or butter
  • 2 tbsp green chutney optional
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp chaat masala

For Serving:

  • Tomato ketchup or green chutney

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Vegetables

  • Wash and thinly slice all vegetables. Keep them uniform for even layering and grilling.

Step 2: Prepare the Spread

  • Spread butter, mayonnaise, or green chutney evenly on one side of each bread slice.

Step 3: Assemble the Sandwich

  • Place one bread slice (spread side up)
  • Layer vegetables: potato → cucumber → onion → tomato → capsicum → carrot
  • Sprinkle salt, pepper, and chaat masala
  • Add cheese slice (optional)
  • Cover with another bread slice

Step 4: Grill the Sandwich

  • Apply butter on the outer sides
  • Grill in a sandwich maker, grill pan, or tawa
  • Cook until both sides are golden brown and crispy

Step 5: Slice & Serve

  • Cut into triangles or rectangles and serve hot with ketchup or chutney.

Notes

  • Crispier texture: Always butter the outer bread before grilling
  • Avoid sogginess: Do not overfill or use watery vegetables
  • Healthier option: Use whole wheat bread and skip cheese
  • Add protein: Include paneer or tofu for a filling version
  • Vegan variation: Use vegan butter, cheese, or hummus
  • Storage tip: Best enjoyed fresh; reheat on a pan if needed
